MINUTES
VEHA Board Meeting - 5/30/08

Present: Amy Pemberton, Anna Jeng, Beth Manghi, Ed Dunn, David Fridley

Absent: Cecil Sink, Preston Smith, Richard Michelback, Catherine Cummins, Angela Sowers, Kimberly Cole, Eric Myers

Minutes of the March Meeting were read and approved.

Review of old business: Angela is to join the signature card next week at Wachovia. She is in possession of the financial records delivered to Preston at the Spring Workshop.

There was no report from Treasurer, VP/Professional Advancement, VP/Programs.

The Bulletin was mailed to all members with 2007 and 2008 expiration dates, approximately 100. Several missing names were noted in the mailing list; Bulletins will be sent to them. David offered to continue to produce the Bulletin at least until a new VP/Member Services is found to coordinate that activity.  Submissions for the next Bulletin will be due June 15.

The Board considered and agreed to donate $250 to the John Morley Fund as described in the Bulletin. However, a quorum was not present to vote; one more aye vote is needed.

Charles Shepherd was selected as the nominee from Virginia for the NEHA Certificate of Merit.

Anna Jeng confirmed her willingness to represent VEHA at the NEHA AEC in June; this will be at no cost to VEHA.

Membership was discussed. Currently, only about 30 of our 100+ “current” list are paid for 2008; VEHA may send a reminder card out to expired members to supplement the application and enrollment note in the Bulletin. The Board discussed the potential for reaching out to VDACS, DEQ, the VCU School of Public Health and the JMU Health Sciences program for membership interest

The absence of reporting from our representative on the Sewage Handling Advisory Committee prompted the discussion of appointing a new representative. Beth Manghi offered herself as a candidate. Lacking a quorum, one more aye vote is needed for this appointment.

The date for the next meeting was set as July 16, Ashland, 11 a.m.

Adjourned.
