NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING: Friday, February 22, 2008. Ashland Coffee and Tea, 11:00
ITEMS DISCUSSED:
Treasurer:
The Board voted Angela Sowers in as treasurer.
Angela needs to get on the signature card for checking account, Amy to contact Angela about meeting at the bank (meeting minutes needed).
Catherine suggested that we perform an audit before Angela takes over.
The checkbook is en route to David and will forward to Angela (after audit?)
Upcoming Training:
Possible training event with TEHA, David to contact Melanie Roberts, President of TEHA, to discuss a future collaboration (Kim provided contact info).
Preston passed out the tentative agenda for the Spring Workshop; date TBA.
Amy will arrange pool inspection training classes for March or April in Lynchburg and Newport News. Amy to contact OEHS to discuss cosponsoring the event. Carroll Puckett will instruct the class; Chris Gordon is another option (Catherine to contact Terry in Lynchburg as well).
Mini-Workshop Ideas: each delegate should come up with training program/workshop for their area of the state; diversify trainings by using a broad topic base instead of just on-site and food topics, indoor air quality speaker in the fall?
Website:
The Scholarship application needs an update instructing applicants to print out the application and send to the Scholarship committee. (Contact Eric).
Unfortunately, the committee did not receive any applications for 2007. VEHA will contact ODU administration for advertisement or possibly a visit to the EH program to discuss the scholarship with the students.
Revisions needed to membership application to reflect an increase in membership dues ($20).
REHS Study Groups:
Discussed having VEHA proctor the REHS exam for members and holding a one-day REHS workshop for exam preparation. Also, VEHA to contact ODU about proctoring the exam.
VP should send out an email to all districts regarding study group interest.
David proposed that we purchase 3 sets of study materials that study groups can borrow/check out. The Board must ensure that the study group members are members of VEHA in order to use our service.
Catherine’s motion to buy test materials with the intent to have 3 sets available to VEHA members, David to write check to NEHA (~$1200). Preston 2nd, all in favor.
