VEHA Board Meeting 4/21/06

ATTENDING MEMBERS: Amy, Sarah, Eric, Ed, David, and Catherine

Results of the Spring Conference
45 attendees
Total deposit was $1265.00
Spent was $1412.87 so net loss of only $147.87
Fall Workshop
Will be held in Charlottesville on Friday October 20, 2006 at the Monticello Center- David has reserved
CASA has committed to co-sponsor.
Speakers
Topic on contaminated sprouts
Bob Custard has offered to speak on the 5th Generation of EH or his Trip to Africa
CASA to look for some FDA connections possible ideas for food track- Catherine to get with CASA

Needs to be revamped. Board approved it to be done by company. Amy and Eric to get quotes by next meeting
Site is to be comparable to WEHA
And must include training of at lest 2 board members on how to maintain it.

Membership
Only 55 current members as of Fall conference
VEHA mailing list has name and address to 635 old members.
A small news letter mailing needs to be done in June to get new members
Election mailing must be done in August
Conference advertising will need to be done in September.
Other Announcements
Complaints course will be held Oct 19th limit 30 folks. Contact Catherine or Bob Custard for more info.
The food protection conferences decided that for all states participating in the FDA voluntary program can only hire employees to work in the food field if they have a degree with a minimum of 30hours in Sciences.
As of the fall conference VEHA only has 55 current members. Sarah to pass out membership info form to all board members.

Promotional Items
Sam’s Club has a good program embroidering shirts, hats, etc. with VEHA logo
Preston to check with his supplier on pricing of pens, pins, shirts and pamphlets
Garry to check with his friend and try and get some T-shirt designs by next meeting.
Order to be discussed after finances have been determined
Digital Logo- Jason to get to Amy- Amy has not yet received.
Sewage Handling Committee.
David to check with his supervisor
Eric to check with Don Alexander once David’s supervisor has approved.

FOCUS OF NEXT MEETING
Future meeting to focus on developing VEHA’s internal structure
Creating Job descriptions for delegates, identifying expiations, with the idea of passing down this information to future generations.
Identifying what the funds in the Professional Advancement CD should be used for and how it can be accessed
Clarifying all the Scholarship information
Creating a VEHA calendar
Identifying more clearly, who we are and what we do.
